I found out today that the chemo meds I've been taking appear to be working! The results from the blood tests came back, and my catecholamine levels are almost undetectable. Those are the chemicals in the tumors that make my blood pressure go up, among other things. When the nurse told me, I was a little in shock. I wasn't prepared to accept good news, because I hadn't gotten any in awhile. I didn't call anyone for a few minutes, because I was so ready for different news. It's starting to sink in a little, but I think it will make taking the pills tomorrow a little easier. Hopefully I won't get as sick this time. We won't know about the size of the tumors until we get a PET scan, which will be at the end of February, after I've finished my second cycle of Sutent. It's hard for me to think that the first treatment we've tried might actually work. I'll stay cautiously optimistic. And it definitely helps that I've got a lot of people praying for me. Don't stop now! We've got a long road ahead.
I've scheduled the IV infusion of Zometa for next week, the same day I get my mammogram! Yea! Can't wait to see what's in store ...
God is love.
That's awesome. I'll call you later to see how you're doing. Love ya!
