Latest hospital stay - Part 2

It's nothing but excitement around here.  I was getting settled in last night, got my night night drugs, and settled back for a few hours of sleep.  I woke up suddenly unable to breathe.  I hit the button and and couldn't talk to get any words.  It sounds so gross, but I've got a lot of mucus at the back of my throat right now, and it had gotten stuck over my airway.  I must have thrown my head back or something because when my tongue covered up the back of my throat, I was able to breathe through my nose ok, but I was panicking and couldn't figure that out with all the nurses swarmed around me.  It was all over in amount a minute, but I couldn't go back to sleep.  We figured out that I was sleeping too flat on my back, so I have to sleep sitting up more.  That's probably also why I was sleeping more soundly.  Bummer.

Anyway, another surgery on Thursday.  This time the doctors are going to slice up my uvula and stitch it to the back of my throat to cover up the damage.  The throat doctor said it looked like the top of the incision was healing, but the bottom still needed some work.  They were all in agreement at the metal hardware would not be coming out.  I'm so thankful, because that would have been a lot for me handle.  This time, I should be home 3 - 4 days after surgery, maybe for Easter.

Until then, I'll write as much as I can, and try not to cheat by using Ken's emails.  I'm going to walk the halls now before turning in.  Pray for me.

God is love.
