More steps back

Well, after careful watch everyday of my throat, there appears to be a small opening.  We are going back to the surgeon tomorrow a.m. so he can take another look and we can make a plan. Originally, the next step would be to take a skin graft from the inside of my wrist and plaster it over the whole back of my throat.  It's a pretty complicated surgery, but it would be better than having to cut the cage out of my spine, which I think they've already decided that's not really an option.  It's more mental for me now, trying to stay positive in light of looking down another long hospital stay and more time away from my kids and family.  

I can't seem to catch a break here.  If anyone has extra prayers, please send them this way.  My family is going to need it.  I'll post again when I can.
